Possible Health Problems Related to Gynecomastia Symptoms

Adolescent guys are usually faced with the issue of having man boobs, which is known to be part of the significant Gynecomastia symptoms many men are worried about. Truth is, the development of male breasts among teenage guys is nothing but normal because during this period in their life, their hormone levels are developing.  This gynecomastia in puberty usually goes away even without the need for treatment once a guy reached adulthood. Yet if man boobs persist up to maturity, then it might be a possible sign of a health problem which must not be ignored and needs the examination of a GP.

The number one concern for having Gynecomastia symptoms (male breasts) even after overcoming puberty is that it could be an indication of liver failure. Don’t panic though because not all man boobs represents liver disease, particularly that this kind of illness is much more common in women in contrasts to men.

Aside from live failure signs, Gynecomastia symptoms could also mean any of the following health issues:
  • Tumours of androgen-producing glands
  • Syndromes such as Klinefelter’s Syndrome
  • Kidney failure
  • Hypogonadism
  • Hyperthyroidism
In order to be sure that the occurrence of male breasts is not due to a serious illness, plastic surgeons will first ask their patients to see their GP before deciding if they indeed require cosmetic procedure. When it’s proven that the man boobs is not an indicator of any health problem, it will be ideal to undergo male breast reduction surgery to eliminate any trace of those embarrassing Gynecomastia symptoms in a man’s body.

Mr Adrian Richards, Leading Plastic Surgeon at Aurora Clinics explains how men develop breasts, known in medical terms as Gynecomastia.

Treating Pseudogynecomastia through Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia can be classified into many forms and one of them is called Pseudogynecomastia. In this case of man boobs, the reason for their growth is having unnecessary fats stored in the breast tissue; a condition that can be treated through Gynecomastia surgery only. This type of bust issue is not just affecting fat or obese males as it can also be present even to guys who are considered to be physically fit.

Every human being has a unique body fat distribution, wherein there is a specific area in the body that gather more fat transfer compared to the others. Those guys who are diagnosed with Pseudogynecomastia have a fat accumulation pattern wherein they store most of their fats on their chest around the pectoral muscles. The result is male breasts that are difficult to eradicate, not unless a Gynecomastia surgery is done to efficiently diminish those often embarrassing man boobs.

Dieting and exercising will do nothing to reduce the appearance of Pseudogynecomastia since this kind of man boobs can sometimes be rooted to the hormonal changes taking place in a man’s body because of age or other external matters that enhances his capacity to collect fats while at the same time weakening his ability to swiftly and efficiently burn fats.  Gynecomastia surgery is the sole cure for this sort of man boobs, as well as those caused by biological matters where stubborn fat metabolizes sluggishly compared to normal fat.

Majority of men will normally resort to dieting and working-out as a desperate attempt to lose Pseudogynecomastia. Yet what they don’t know is that they are just putting all their efforts to waste since this kind of man boobs will not go away unless Gynecomastia surgery is applied. This cosmetic procedure is the only correction method that will guarantee permanent and effective removal on this type of male breasts dilemma.

Mr. Richards, Leading Plastic Surgeon at Aurora Clinics describes the treatment options available if you have Male Breasts medically known as gynaecomastia. These include advice on exercise and fitness as well as the possible surgery options available.

Correcting Gynecomastia with Puffy Nipples and Areola

Gynecomastia with Puffy Nipples and Areola
There are cases of Gynecomastia wherein having prominent man boobs is not the only issue but puffy nipples and areola too. If this happens, the condition of your male breasts will become more awkward that Gynecomastia surgery is a must for you. Having male boobs with nipples that stick out and enlarged areola can lead to frustrations for you cannot do normal things such as walking on the beach topless or taking your shirt in public. Still, there are cosmetic procedures that can efficiently cure these man boobs problems.

Typically, nipples that stick out are seen among men with man boobs. The reason why nipples bulge out is due to the tissue beneath your bust tissue. Surgery can be done to stop the puffiness on the nipples. There are many kinds of surgery methods doctors’ use but the popular one is known as the Webster's procedure that eliminates the unnecessary tissue beneath the bust tissue which is the main culprit of bulging nipples. Liposuction and Gynecomastia surgery are also called for as they efficiently help in the full removal of man boobs.

On the other hand, if the Gynecomastia is larger than usual, it is because there is an area on the bust tissue that is concealed under the areola which makes them sticks out. To get rid of the breast tissue beneath the areola, Gynecomastia surgery is needed to flatten the areola as well as fully eliminate man boobs.

Different type of cosmetic techniques can be applied to correct problems concerning nipples that stick out and bulging areola, yet undergoing a Gynecomastia surgery is one trusted method that will totally solve issues with having man boobs.

Mr. Adrian Richards, Cosmetic Surgeon & Surgical Director of Aurora clinics talks about Male Breast Abnormalities, Gynecomastia, Aureola abnormalities, nipple abnormalities, Nipple Reduction, surgery techniques, and what each procedure involves.

According to statistics, 1/3 of the male population looking for breast reductions are overweight. Man boobs is affecting a lot of men of all ages and race but it’s mostly present on teenage boys due to Gynecomastia in Puberty which is nothing but a normal medical condition every adolescent guy will go through.  Yet typical as it maybe, having male breast can cause a lot of distress and misery to teenagers. It makes them shy to go walking in the beach topless or attend a swimming class because they fear that others will see their man boobs and tease them for it. Still, most of these adolescent guys are secretive about their condition even to their family and friends for they are confused about the real nature of their Gynecomastia.

During their teenage years, 90% of men will go through many hormonal changes in their bodies including having male breasts that looks a little lump under the areola and is smaller than 4 centimeters in diameter. At the age of 14, Gynecomastia in Puberty will start to grow among teenage men yet will go away within 2 years for 75% of teens and 3 years for some 90% without even the requirement for treatment.

Although male breasts is only common on men during puberty, any kid having male breasts that is experiencing anxiety and stress should go visit a GP so their depression can be eased out. Moreover, it will let them know that Gynecomastia in Puberty is happening to all teens his age and not only to him, plus the condition does not need treatment to vanish.

Gynecomastia Exercises that Helps Eliminate Man Boobs

Suffering from Gynecomastia, popularly known as ‘man boobs’, is not a funny thing at all for it can affect a man’s well-being and social life. Having male breasts can indeed hurt a guy’s confidence since it can hinder them from doing certain things such as wearing tight shirts or walking along the beach topless. Feeling at ease with their loved ones during intimate moments will also become a problem.

The growth of male breasts is often due to hormonal imbalance or being overweight. When there’s hormonal imbalance in a man’s body, unnecessary fatty cells are produced around the bust area, resulting to the occurrence of man boobs. This is why there are times that even those guys that are physically fit and not fat may also have protruding, feminine looking breasts.

Fortunately, there are several Gynecomastia exercises that can aid in shrinking or eliminating those embarrassing man boobs. Majority of these exercise programs aims in getting rid of those extra fats on the chest and then producing more muscles that will eventually erase the appearance of male breasts. Take note though that there are also effective cardiovascular exercises that can assist in the removal of Gynecomastia as well as developing the entire body built of a guy. Examples of these cardiovascular workouts are:

  • Weightlifting
  • Jogging
  • Sprinting
  • Stair Sprints
  • Dumbbell Chest Press
  • Cable Crossovers
  • Press Ups
Doing those cardiovascular exercises alone will not give satisfactory outcomes in the removal of man boobs; instead, proper diet must be practiced too in order to effectively trim down the amount of fats in the breast tissue. Take note though that these exercises may not work well on cases of Gynecomastia wherein the tissue construction is mainly glandular.

However, it’s highly advised that guys who have man boobs must at least first try doing Gynecomastia exercises before undergoing any form of treatments since those workout techniques are usually effective when it comes to helping men reach their proper weight. Once a guy is on his correct weight, unnecessary fats on his chest will be avoided; thus no embarrassing man boobs to bother him. If the man boobs cannot be remedied by exercising, then Gynecomastia cosmetic surgery will be required.

Mr Richards, Leading Plastic Surgeon of Aurora Clinics talks about the treatment options for Male Breast Reduction also known as gynaecomastia. These include advice on exercise and a discussion of the types of surgery available.

Know the Common Symptoms of Gynecomastia

Before and After photos of Gynecomastia Surgery
Some guys think that having male breasts is such a horrific situation that often leads them to feel really depressed. What most men don’t know is that Gynecomastia, popularly known as ‘man boobs’ is a condition that is common among many men of all ages and race. In fact, having male breasts is prevalent among teenage boys as a result of the hormonal changes happening on their bodies during puberty and simply goes away once they reach adulthood. Yet there are instances when the man boobs stay even if a guy is already done with his puberty stage.

Men will know if they are affected by Gynecomastia if they have the following symptoms:

    • Breasts Bigger than the Normal Size
This is the number one, most common symptom of a ‘man boobs’ condition.  Having breasts that appears to be that of a teenage girl or for some men, just like that of an ordinary female breasts is a result of the buildup of excess fatty tissues in the chest brought about by certain factors like hormonal imbalance or genetic factors.

    • Bloated, Protruding Nipples
Just like the first symptom, the growth of bloated, protruding nipples is as well due to the buildup of excess fatty tissues in a man’s chest. This can be quite embarrassing especially when a guy is wearing a tight shirt since the bloated nipples can look really prominent and might be mistaken for being aroused most of the time.

The good thing about Gynecomastia is that it’s a condition that can be easily lessened or completely eliminated through various treatment methods. Depending on the condition and kind of the ‘man boobs’ a guy have, there’s an ideal treatment for it in the form of either an exercise or cosmetic procedure that will correct the problem of having male breasts.

Men suffering from ‘man boobs’ need not worry much since this condition will not bring dangers to their health. However, having male breasts or nipples that are bigger than the normal size can be quite embarrassing that it’s best to seek for solutions on how to eradicate the issue. As I mentioned it already, Gynecomastia is not hard to treat; so don’t hesitate to visit your GP or cosmetic surgeon and ask for their advice on how to successfully eliminate man boobs.

    Gynecomastia Surgery | Facts

There are numerous reasons why male breasts develop, also known as Gynecomastia.  This condition usually happens during puberty or at old age. Male breasts develop during puberty mostly because of hormonal imbalance. And most of the time teens who experienced this condition usually undergo surgery. However, we highly recommend that they have to wait until they are of legal age or at least they reached 18 to 20 years. We have several patients who got their cases resolve and don’t need to go through with surgery.

    Before Gynecomastia Surgery

After the grace period (20 years old), if Gynecomastia still did not disappear, the cause of the condition should be identified.  The most common causes of male breasts development are using prohibited drugs or drugs containing cimetidine, marijuana, and obesity.  Steroid use can also trigger such predicament, especially weight builders. Furthermore, male breasts can be hereditary.
There are some who are not overweight, but still acquire this condition. Typically, fat accumulates on some parts of one’s body. Some develop them on the chest or tummy. Unfortunately, there are others who have it on their breasts.
    After Gynecomastia Surgery

Majority of our patients who come to Aurora Clinics, previously tried in stopping their development by doing exercises for the chest. However, doing so can make the pectoralis major muscle (muscle on the breast) stronger.  It worsens the situation. It can make the muscle much thicker, and enhances the breast to develop even more.  Exercise will never ease the fatty tissues growth. For those men, who are fond of doing chest exercises it would be best to discontinue exercising.  Do normal exercises and do not ever attempt to do chest exercises ever again.  You can still lose weight without those exercises. Focus more on your shoulder muscles or any part of your body, except for your chest.  Being physically fit and having a right diet is the best step in stopping the condition.
In the event Gynecomastia still continues to develop after following a healthy diet and exercise. Another option left for you is surgery.
If you want more information about Gynecomastia, its treatment, and how to face it, you can reach us at www.aurora-clinics.co.uk or 0800 328 5743 (United Kingdom number).
